Announcements
This page lists Chora-Strangers news and announcements to the world! Most of these will be notifications of content additions (we hope those are frequent), but there are other reasons for making news. As you may know, Chora-Strangers is a consortium of scholars from around the world who share a similar vision (see mission statement). Should one of these members do something remarkable, we will post it here. Also, we will keep you informed of any changes to the operation of the website (hopefully because a new feature is being added!). Lastly, the orange button at the bottom of this list provides the URL needed for receiving these announcements through an RSS feed.
Seminaries and Universities receiving copies of 'Biblical Interpretation'
In order to circulate the fine articles that are in the book, From Biblical Interpretation to Human Transformation, Chora-Strangers has sent copies to numerous schools across the United States and around the world.

December 31, 2006 - New Website Framework
Today is the official release of the enhancements made to the Chora-Strangers website.
The framework, or content management system, that this site uses is called Drupal. This framework provides a vast list of added functionality over a small core of standard operability. The web developer adds the necessary modules to get the desired functionality. We have added only what is really needed so the site maintains a quick response time.
April 21, 2006 - Book Published
Chora-Strangers' first book From Biblical Interpretation to Human Transformation: Reopening the Past to Actualize New Possibilities for the Future was released today and presented to Herman Waetjen at the Pacific Coast Theology Society (PCTS) meeting. We tried to keep this a surprise, although when Dr. Douglas Oakman flew down from Tacoma, Washington, and other non-members of PCTS were present at the meeting, Herman started to become suspicious.
June 21, 2005 - Book Layout
Chora-Strangers is responsible for the design and layout of the book The Gospel of the Beloved Disciple: A Work in Two Addition.
This work was done entirely with Open Source software, specifically OpenOffice (Word Processor) under Linux (the Operating System). OpenOffice can natively save files in Portable Document Format (.PDF) which is considered camera ready to the publisher.
Many thanks to Amy Wagner for her consultation and help during this process.
January 23, 2005 - Article Additions
As part of the website upgrade, we are also adding additional content.
Dr. Gerald West from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal, in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, submitted two additional articles. They are accepted and greatly appreciated.

December 21, 2002 - Quiet Inauguration
Chora-Strangers is now online!
This site is hosted by Willamette University, in Salem, Oregon. The has a handful of articles, a book, and a few book promotions. If it weren't for the book covers, this site would not be very visually appealing. Hope we can add lots of content, although it will take some time, as it is a side project for all of us.
