Publishing

Chora-Strangers became an official publisher on December 1, 2005.

There are several reasons why Chora-Strangers became the publisher for the Festschrift (From Biblical Interpretation to Human Transformation). The simple answer is that we approached other companies who told us that, in their experience, they couldn't sell enough copies to make a return on their investment. Other agencies offered to produce the copy for us, but requested that we do all the work in creating a camera-ready copy. So our decision became clear. Why not just take the next step and publish it ourselves? Since we already had the website, there seemed to be some compelling reasons to do this, not the least of which is having complete control of not only how copies are sold, but how it is presented to the public. It gave us the freedom of putting the information on the Internet in a user friendly manner, targeting the audience that would appreciate the scholarship involved, and perhaps offering a service that others might be interested in using in the future.
